Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for pesticides and veterinary drugs in food are essential tools for protecting public health, facilitating international trade, and ensuring product quality. However, scientific studies reveal that in Mexico and other Latin American countries, fruits and vegetables often exceed these limits, posing serious health risks, mainly to vulnerable populations. It is crucial to strengthen monitoring systems, require health certificates, and modernize analytical infrastructure to ensure safe and sustainable food.
