Biodiversity can be defined in different ways, by the number of species in an area, by the endemic species present, by the complexity of environments, or by the genetic diversity that occurs in a population or between populations of different species that make up the ecosystem. Furthermore, it is less common to describe biodiversity in terms of other components that are crucial to ecosystem stability and permanence, such as biological interactions. In this document, three interactions that commonly go unnoticed in the eyes of observers visiting the island are described for the Catalan island in the Gulf of California, one between ants and garambullos (Pachycereus schottii), the other between spiders and the giant biznaga (Ferocactus diguetii), and another one among bats and cardons (Pachycereus pringlei).
