Parrots are birds that are threatened by both anthropogenic and environmental factors. The objective of this study was to determine the composition of parrot species in Alameda de Zaragoza Park, located in the municipality of Saltillo, Coahuila. During the months of September and October 2016, we conducted bird observation and identification using linear transects of 220 250 m in length, performed of random mode, between 08:30 and 12:00 h. We recorded 17 bird species, of which seven were parrots, representing 22 % of the total abundance at the site. Among these, four are native to Mexican territory: Red-crowned Parrot (Amazona viridigenalis), Yellow-headed Parrot (A. oratrix), Red-lored Parrot (A. autumnalis), and Green Parakeet (Psittacara holochlorus). Additionally, the presence of the Monk Parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus), an invasive exotic species in Mexico, was recorded; it was the most abundant (10.8 %) among the observed parrots. Alameda de Zaragoza represents a site with potential to be included in birdwatching ecotourism programs. The participation of regional authorities is recommended for the implementation of control protocols for the Monk Parakeet.
