Potenciales Sustratos en la Industria Biotecnológica de México

Mesquite and agave are plant species widely distributed in Mexico which have been used by various folks of our country and have the potential to be used in different biotechnological aspects. The importance of these plant species lies in their ecological, traditional, and economic role. Likewise, research focused on the production of new foods, the isolation of compounds with pharmacological action, the synthesis of new materials (biopolymers), and the production of biofuels. Given the relevance of these plants in Mexico, this review is based on presenting characteristics, properties, and uses, as well as the promising use in biotechnology of these plant species.
