Revisiones taxonómicas, ciencia de frontera y programas nacionales

In order to encourage a proposal for a national taxonomical program, four fundamental issues are herein considered. First, the importance of taxonomic revisions, which because of their transforming of research quality, they are analogous to the alchemists’ philosopher stone. Second, that taxonomic revisions (and taxonomy) must be regarded as frontier science because they try to overcome ignorance. Third, because we ignore most planetary species we must increase our research activities in this field, including turbo-taxonomy approaches. Fourth, we must coordinate towards a national initiative, leaded by both CONACYT and UNAM, to promote national research projects in this field.
