De la medicina al ambiente
la presencia de fármacos en los ecosistemas acuáticos

¿Sabías que los medicamentos que usamos pueden terminar en ríos y océanos? Desde el sanitario hasta el desagüe, estos compuestos llegan a plantas de tratamiento y de ahí, al medio ambiente. La presencia de estos fármacos en el agua puede afectar a peces y otros organismos acuáticos, alterando su reproducción y su desarrollo. El problema se torna más complicado cuando sumamos conductas inapropiadas en el uso de fármacos, como la automedicación y la falta de control en la venta de medicamentos. Sin embargo, no todas son malas noticias. Actualmente se están desarrollando nuevas tecnologías para la remoción de medicamentos en aguas residuales, así como estrategias para evitar que estos lleguen al medio ambiente y cada vez se conoce y se difunde más información sobre esta problemática.
